How to Make Crafted Items

HOW TO MAKE CRAFTED ITEMS

What Are Crafted Items

Crafted items are a special type of item that can only be obtained by using a specific recipe in the Horadric Cube. These recipes will produce an item with some preset variable attributes, and some random attributes.

Crafted items are treated lke rare items by the game, so they can only receive rare affixes, and get only 1 socket from Larzuk's socket quest.

Some crafted items are very coveted because of their unique attributes in the slot, like Crushing Blow on Blood Gloves.

A crafting recipe always consist of the following
  • a rune
  • a perfect gem
  • a specific magic item (normal, exceptional, or elite variant)
  • any magic jewel

Crafting Mechanics

Attributes

First of all, all properties of the used magic item are lost. The item is completely re-rolled, meaning it will also lose its automods and staffmods, and ethereal state.

Crafted items roll with 3 or 4 fixed attributes, depending on the crafting recipe. They also roll with 1 to 4 additional random attributes, the amount is based on the Ilvl of the crafted item.

Ilvl=floor(cLvl/2)+floor(iLvl/2)

The resulting Ilvl determines both the amount of additional attributes and which affixes can roll. An item can roll a maximum of 3 prefixes and 3 suffixes. So in the case of 4 affixes, you can roll 3 prefixes and 1 suffix, but not 4 prefixes.

amount of additional attributes on a crafted item
1234
Ilvl 1-3040%20%20%20%
Ilvl 31-5060%20%20%
Ilvl 51-7080%20%
Ilvl 70+100%

After determining the Ilvl we can calculate the Affix Level. This level will determine which affixes can roll on the crafted item.

for Circlets, Wands, Orbs, and Staves (if magic lvl > 0).

aLvl=max(Ilvl, qLvl)+magic lvl

For other items (if magic lvl < 0).

IFmax(Ilvl, qLvl)<(99-floor(qLvl/2))
THENaLvl=max(Ilvl, qLvl)-floor(qLvl/2)
ELSEaLvl=2*max(Ilvl, qLvl)-99

After finding the aLvl, you can see which then which affixes can roll on the item.

Required Level

The level requirement of the resulting crafted item is determined by the rolled affixes.

rLvl=highest aLvl+10+(3*# additional affixes)
