The Souls Dance
Exactly four Will-o'-wisps near you can stop fighting and draw seven shapes with their lightning. Each shape gives you Magic Find, up to +4,200% in Hell for 19.2 hours. It is also known as the Gloam easter egg, but any mix of these works, champions and uniques included:
Step by step
- Go to an area with Will-o'-wisps.
- Kill wisps until exactly fourare left within 32 yards of each other. Other monsters don't matter.
- Stay within 32 yards of them and don't kill them. The dance usually starts within a minute or two: each wisp rolls a small chance about every half second (0.3% in Normal, 0.4% in Nightmare, 0.5% in Hell).
- The four wisps move to fixed spots around you and draw seven shapes, three lightning casts per shape.
- Stay alive until they finish: after each shape, each wisp gives you Magic Find.
- Farm without leaving the game: the bonus is gone once you leave.
Magic Find
| Difficulty | Per wisp, per shape | Full dance (4 wisps × 7 shapes) |
|---|---|---|
| Normal | +50% | +1,400% |
| Nightmare | +100% | +2,800% |
| Hell | +150% | +4,200% |
- The bonus lasts 19.2 hours, as long as you stay in the game.
- Shapes finished before a wisp dies still count.
- It doesn't show on the character screen.
- After a dance, the wisps can't start another for 72 seconds.
Like all Magic Find, only part of it counts for rare, set and unique items:
- +4,200% counts as 235% for uniques: a unique is 3.4 times as likely. 300% Magic Find from gear makes it 2.4 times.
- Dancing twice (+8,400%) adds almost nothing: uniques go from 235% to 242%.
Five wisps
With exactly five wisps, they draw a pentagram around you instead: three casts each, then they fight again. It gives no Magic Find. With any other number, nothing happens.
