Patch 2.4 Release Date Delayed!

Patch 2.4 schedule

UPDATE: Patch 2.4 and Ladder Release Date Confirmed!

UPDATE: Patch 2.4 is now Live!

Since the initial announcement of Patch 2.4 back in December 2021, its release date has been a heavily debated topic. Since then we've had two successful PTRs

  • January 25th 2022 - February 2nd 2022 | Content PTR
  • March 2nd 2022 - March 9th 2022 | Ladder and Diablo Clone PTR

After the last PTR, end of March was given as an ETA for Patch 2.4 release. This has now been delayed due to unknown circumstances. Blizzard will have an update on this later this week along with some hard dates.

The first ladder season is planned to start 2 weeks after Patch 2.4 is released. See Blizzard communication below.

Reddit update from PezRadar (Community Manager)

We will have an update on this later this week along with some hard dates. Unfortunately that ETA of end of month has pushed out. But isn’t 4 months or anywhere near.

Why is it delayed?

Well I think we can do better at communicating still and I think people saw the comment and were under bated breath waiting for that communication. Unfortunately we needed to do some digging on our end and we still are on our side. But I promise for some comms later this week. I think some people may have noticed, a maintenance didn’t go as planned last week and we are investigating and getting all the details so you all are properly informed on what happened. We will also talk about that.

When will the first ladder season start?

As for ladder, we are anticipating launching that a week or two after 2.4 hits. Why a week or two? Because we want to ensure that we can address any issues that may arise with the launch of a large update like this to a much larger audience than PTR. Sometimes these come up and we want to ensure the integrity and competitive nature of ladder doesn't run into any snags.
